Anima
Simple rules, complex life.
What it is
Anima is an interactive cellular-automata sandbox running both Conway's Game of Life on a toroidal grid and all 256 elementary one-dimensional rules rendered as space-time diagrams. The signature idea is that strikingly complex behaviour emerges from tiny local rules, verified against the canon - Rule 90 equals left XOR right, and the glider's known period and travel. It is a from-scratch, dependency-light build you can download and run locally.
Conway's Game of Life (B3/S23, toroidal) plus the 256 elementary 1-D rules as a space-time diagram. 12 tests against the canon - Rule 90 = left XOR right, the glider's period and travel.
